Anyone know what model Dana Rear is in a 2006 SPF Car?

Differential by DANA Corporation
Sometime in 2005 the rear end was changed to a Dana Corporation IRS unit. This is the same unit as used in the Superformance Coupe. I believe it was produced only Australia maybe by "BTR". The 3.46 ratio is standard. Other ratios that were available were 3.07, 3.46, 3.73 and 3.91. Perhaps the part number for this differential is #0180-000007. The same rear end was used on the Pontiac GTO in 2004 & 2005 Allen bolt sizes for the half shafts reference to a 2005 GTO The GM part number might be #92180093. They are probably metric M10X1.25X50. I have an exploded drawing of it somewhere. |

Do you think this would be the correct gears for a 4.10 swap? Would this work for the rear in my car?

Sorry Chris, can't answer that question. I'm the electrical guy - I do the Wiring Diagrams for the SPF MKIII's and 289 Slabsides chassis'...
But I did find a paper copy of the exploded view of the rear end. Send me your email address offline. (When you finish shoveling snow) I don't know if JCWhitney would be my first choice as a parts provider though.... I would think contacting a local shop that specializes in differentials would be money well spent. |
That does not seem to be the correct gear set. The 4:10 was a bit hard to come by a few years ago, as it was an aftermarket part not made for Holden. Try this company. GFORCE ENGINEERING, LLC
I know you can still get a 3:91 set. All of the parts in the center section are 2004-06 GTO and Holden Monaro. |
Not sure if this is directed toward me as Im not Chris. Not looking to buy from JC whitney, I am just trying to find the correct parts so I know what I am looking for and get the proper quality items. Up till now I haven't found anything at all. I will message you.

If you want to go any deeper than 3.91, you will need a new case. They are out there, but expensive. These are Direct drop-ins for GTO, and I assume they should fit into the SPF (but YMMV). Strictly speaking, the difference between 4.10 and 3.91 does not justify the cost of having to go with a different diff IMO. I second the gforce engineering referral. They are great, and have all the parts you should need. I've bought a bunch of their stuff and it's all quality. They sell the gearset by motive. They also sell center sections and master rebuild kits for those holden diffs. For the record, I have 4.10s in SPF #408 and I really don't like them...I wish I had 3.70 or taller, but that's my car... |
The Stock 3.45 can be made to work with a good tranny spread on a TKO or T56...
just a thought. |
