wiper arm help

Passenger side wiper arm doesn't fit tight at splined area. I've never even turn them on before because of this known problem. And so today I gave it a try. And just as expected, they slipped about 1 to 2 splines per swing of the arm. Two swings of the wiper, then turned them off. Blade was resting now on the body rather than windshield. Splined area that the arm slides on to is in good condition, and problem seems to be in the arm it's self.

Any ideas what to do to fix this problem, other than buying new wiper arm. Then who's to say it wouldn't do the same thing.

I'm sure someone with lots miles on their car has delt with this issue. I've only had the car, (superformance) a little over a year now. Luckily not been caught in the rain.

I took my wiper blades completely off, most Cobras do, I don't even think they really work that well in the rain, but it also never rains where I live...

Try calling Hillbank or a dealer close to you. Do you belong to SCOF?

Obviously a problem with the splines on the wiper arm. You can try putting a piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil over the wiper post and then installing the arn, it will take up any clearance. But the real fix is a new wiper arm.

Agree with Mark IV, the other alternate is to crimp the arm-hole in a vice and close the gap. --Alternately you could put some shrink tube over the pintle and put the arm back down - sounds like the inside of the arm is stripped or is "wider" than it was.

Thanks all.

After checking more into the problem. Seems the problem is where the wiper shaft connects to the cable that operates the wipers. Think it's the same crap steup Jag used years back.

Oh well,, a new wiper arm would have been a much easier fix.

Thanks again.
