Replacing Water Temp Gauge
The original Smiths mechanical water temperature gauge on my car has bellied-up so I've been doing a little research on replacement gauges and have found that Smiths also makes an electronic water temp gauge that will replace the current gauge. Has anyone here gone with the electronic gauge instead of the mechanical one ? What are the pros and cons (aside from the fact that the electronic gauge scale doesn't look exactly like the original).
Appreciate any input

Just came across your post... Mine hasn't worked for years. Did you ever replace? If so, which one did you go with?

Yes, I did replace the gauge and decided to go back with the original style mechanical gauge. Aside from the originality factor, the mechanical gauge has a scale with a much finer resolution of degrees. The electronic gauge scale seems that it would involve a little more guesswork of the actual water temperature.
