Superformance ebrake adjustment with brake on drive shaft
Anyone have the procedure on how to adjust the ebrake when mounted on the drive shaft. I appreciate any help!!!!

I checked and scof takes two weeks after you submit your application. I am trying to pass inspection tomorrow. Anyone with adjustment sequence would be greatly appreciated!

we ended up making new pads and pucks for them fixing the engineering issue with them.

Blas to the rescue again. Thank goodness as I did it exactly wrong. Still need new pads but at least past inspection and got it titled and registered!!

The drive shaft E brake is the workings of a mad man! You will need to change out the pads once you have driven down the road with the e brake on as the adjustment is way too fine for grip when engaged or rubbing whilst disengaged. I just don't use mine.

Funny thing when I took it for inspection, the guy shot the sheet with me for 15 minutes and put a sticker on it, he never even tested a light!!! I gave him $50 tip just for grins.

I too am curious about the fix. I had Olthoff adjust mine prior to receiving my car and the emergency brake began dragging shortly afterward. Tried to back off adjustment some but continue to make contact. I just ended up backing off all the way and secured in a position that the pads do not make contact with the emergency brake rotor. Please let me know if there is a fix.

Two previous SPFs both with the drive shaft mounted brake. I removed the whole assembly on both. Better to not have than depend on something that is marginal at best. I used a wheel chock for parking.
If you consider it a nemergency brake you're just fooling yourself, it's a parking brake at best. I'm gonna get flamed for this. Jim |
Dennis O set mine. Whatever he does works just fine. It will hold on a 45 degree slope and releases cleanly. Do I like it? Not very much. It is a parking brake pure and simple. There are times when I am glad it is there.

Adjustment & Pads
I ordered the new teeny weeny pads from Superformance seeing as they seem to be absolutely proprietary, hence the silly price (Just a whisker over $100 with shipping)...(They are in stock you need to order 2 they are sold individually).
Dropping the assembly is really easy, put the car up on stands, support the diff, unscrew the rod, pull the front two 19mm diff bolts, and the whole unit just drops out. The adjustment procedure is in the installation manual under adjustments. It is on the SCOF website under installation. Seems straightforward albeit very specific. SPF. Park brake working great!
Bought new pads.
Removal is simple, support the diff, remove the 10mm nut on the rod, remove the two 19mm front diff bolts and the caliper drops right out. I cleaned the hell out of it, chase threads cleaned bolts etc. I also freshened up the disc with Garnett paper wit the car in gear...little scary but worked great. Putting the new pads in you leave about 1.5 mm of the heads sticking up, don't tighten so that the pads can rock. All there is to adjustment is doing the back first that is adjusted by double nutting the 10x1.5 mm stud "Tom bolt" (17mm wrench) turning it till the brake binds, backing off a touch, then doing the same to the adjusting bolt (13 mm head) which adjusts the front. The rod is not used to adjust! Now holds no problem on a steep driveway! Cheers Steve H SPF 1764 |
