Superformance side mirror
Does anyone know if the side mirror from finish line fits the mounting holes of the original spf mirror? does anyone have a side mirror for an spf. I know they are not very functional but i have to cover the mounting holes with something:CRY:

Yes, the Finish Line mirror will fit fine on your SPF. I recently replaced mine without any problems.

I removed that worthless side mirror and placed rivets into the mounting holes. Rivets match the existing hood rivets.

Thanks! I agree as being useless. Why they are mounted is bewildering. Throw one in the trunk a let customer decide. I ordered a new SPF years back with the request many times no side mirror, it shows up with the side mirror.

To funny the reason i was looking to replace was the glass had been pushed in. i am sure the po tried to adjust many times without success. I broke the glass while trying to reassemble at the last second, but the glass is in and secure. I googled mirror and found my old post from 2008 to use a convex mirror grote 12014-5 to make the mirror useful. I ordered one from summit i will just stick over the busted one and problem solved.
If it don't work it was $1.99. If it does saves $35 for mirror and $13 in shipping and handling, LOL. and so we wait some more for parts to arrive blah blah blah….

For what it's worth I didn't install the mirror supplied with my car. Instead, I purchased a mirror with a post, made a simple bushing, and mounted it in the front side-curtain hole. No holes in the fiber-glass, removable and is closer to the driver (more useful). I have a copy of that great hand-drawn picture by David Kimble of CSX 3022 that shows it in that location. Also, there was an original at the Peterson Museum that had it there.

I have the SPF mirror and in addition little custom fabricated mirrors on the windshield frames (you can barely notice them and they are very functional).

Not sure racers look in their mirrors, but the side mirror shows if a vehicle is right on your rear fender. In a race, you don't care what is back 100', you may want to glance to see if another car is only 20' back. I did an adjustment to twist the mount out slightly and it gives a much better rear view.

Max, if you still want an original SPF bullet mirror, I have one that came off my car. $10 plus shipping. I replaced it with a Raydot.
PM me if you want it.

I changed out the mirror with a 2 dollar convex mirror from autozone. Works great now. 1000 percent better.
