Shifter Boot
Where in Canada or online can I buy a new shifter boot? Are they all pretty standard?

There are several different types and styles of shifter boots. I presume you have a Superformance. I also have a Suerpformance and replaced mine approx. a year ago. I wanted a leather version, but ultimately decided to stick with the rubber version supplied with the car. I obtained mine from Superformance (on-line) and the cost was less than $50. I don't know what's available in Canada, but you can find several sources on-line.

I ordered a Lokar 70-HRB leather boot for mine online. I became frustrated by the replacement rubber boot constantly kicking my car out of one gear or another even after endless attempts to adjust it. You can see a picture of it in my profile. It matches the e-break boot very well too.

I bought a new SPF bellows-style rubber boot from Olthoff Racing a few years ago. It was pretty cheap including postage. You could also order one from Rick at Time Machines Auto near Buffalo; closer to you.
I'm a bit of a "Cobra purist" and prefer the original-style bellows shifter boot, but came close to ordering a Lokar leatherette boot instead to avoid having the gear lever kick out of third gear. In the end the rubber boot softened up quickly enough; I just had to keep an eye on it until it did. Who knows, next time I might opt for a Lokar... I dunno.
I don't see the rubber bellows-style boot on the Olthoff website right now, but you could phone and see if they have 'em in stock. They also seem to carry a Lokar-style boot.

Performance Unlimited (Cobra Valley) have leather versions or FinishLine sells the rubber ones.

The SPF rubber one had an angle molded in to it to be close to neutral and not pull it out of gear. I used a Finishline one in an SPF and held the shift handle into the poppiing out gear with a bungee (when not in use of course) till it both softened and took a little memory.

Mine came from Shopsuperformance.com. Three others from different sources pulled the car out of gear; this one does not.

My original shift boot from ERA (bellows-style rubber) continually pulled the transmission out of gear regardless of any of the multiple remedies I tried. I replaced it with a Sunbeam Tiger V8 shift boot which is identical (style, mounting hole spacing, etc.) except for being made of a thinner rubber.
Problem solved.
I bought mine through Sunbeam Specialties www.rootes.com

Your post was so convincing that I bought one. My fault for not noticing "ERA" and for not measuring. $28 later I have a new boot that's 2" smaller than what I needed. Do you want to buy an extra boot cscobra?

Thought I'd add another post to make sure that you all don't think I'm upset. CS was only trying to help which I understand and $28 is squat. I always loved Sunbeam Tigers and now I own a piece of one. :)

ZZMAC - sent you a PM. If you still have your Sunbeam Tiger boot I'm interested in it.
