Steering wheel insert
Merry Christmas all....
Looking to switch out the superformance centre steering wheel insert for one of finish lines replacements, either the Cobra cap OEM, all black, or the red.white one. Can anyone advise wheter I can pop out the superformance logo one and easily replace with one of these? I have the std original wood steering wheel that came with the car. Finish line says they fit any six bolt wheel....? Thanks Mike |
Been there, done that. I replaced my SPF center cap with an AC cap from Finishline.

take off your center cap. take razor blade and slice emblem. Use torch on back to warm the button and it will peel right off. Use fishing line to remove your button so you don't ding the button or steering wheel.

I removed the SF logo and replaced it with an AC logo. Same size as the original and it looks like it grew there. No hub removal and a cost of about $5.
|
How did you remove it? It seems like it would pop off. The post above with torches....
|
Bill, if you're asking me, the SF logo just peels off and the AC replacement was the same size. It was self-adhessive so one just (carefully) slaps it on. No spindle or hub removal needed.

The insert in the center of the steering wheel (plastic cap-like cover) pops right off the steering wheel. Held on with O-rings on center cap going thru opening in steering wheel.Very important to use a lever device that is softer than the material on the steering wheel spokes or you will scratch or gouge the metal. Very easy to damage. Plastic lever, maybe plastic spoon, etc. Some people who had ill fitting center caps used a dab of silicone to keep it in place. Use dental floss to cut thru the silicone in present. Floss may also remove center cap if it's not jammed on the wheel. I have photos of back side of cap if you need them for reference.

Which red white a blue cap is correct, the finish line cap does not have the chrome lettering all the others do, the scott drake cap does, which is correct...
|
I used a credit card to remove my streering wheel cap. However, none of the replacement caps l purchased would fit.
|
I bought the AC one from finish line and it fit

I have the AC currently installed on my car; however a new cap with the Cobra logo was found in the glove box. I was going to change over to it, but now believe that the AC cap is actually the period correct option? BTW - I am adding all the external badging to the car as well.
So...is the AC center cap the right one to go with? |
The chrome letters is correct
