Old Fuel
Have decided to dispose of the fuel - full tank of course. Our Forester has a hair dryer so it too calls for high test so I'll dispose of the SF's gas a couple of gallons at a time in the Forester. Now my question: Would the best way to pull the old gas from the SF be the SF's own fuel pump? Whatever method I use, I don't want any spillage.

I've never seen a fuel system with a drain valve, so I'd likely use the electric fuel pump too. To depressurize the fuel line I'd leave the pump off and briefly start and run the engine. Then I'd disconnect the fuel line somewhere higher than the tank where a fitting to a drain hose could be connected (e.g., a barb fitting in a rubber hose). Put the other end of the drain hose in a gas can and turn on the fuel pump until its near full.

Get a cheap system and syphon it out of the tank.

Use a clear hose and siphon directly from SPF tank into portable gas can on floor. Using a clear hose lets you see how big a toke you are taking on the hose without getting a mouthful of gasoline. (you can see the fuel in the hose)
Remember: Don't be smoking when toking. And if you do get a taste, no smoking right afterwards. **) Old high test gasoline tastes like..... chicken. :LOL: |
