SPO2256 - Roush 402 without mufflers

In case any of you are curious what this setup might sound like with straight pipes. Roush 402 AL...

I figured I'd play around a bit before putting the mufflers back on. On one of my favorite on ramps the other day a cop was waiting at the end of it. Instead of the usual acceleration I had to short shift and lug past the trooper to avoid anti-muffler detection

Put the mufflers back on this weekend along with the water temp gauge replacement. I must say that I'm not impressed with the quality of the EXPENSIVE SMITHS gauges. Oil temp gauge failed at less than 2000 miles, and the water temp gauge failed at 2700 miles. Seriously?

Here's a quickie video of the "new sound". I'm sure the neighbors will be pleased. Pretty tame sounding compared to the straight pipes. I'll try and get a new driving video similar to the one I made with the straight pipes when the weather cooperates.

FWIW, all stock/original Roush 402AL with Performer dual plane RPM manifold. This is a fantastic engine for this street car!

Did you replace the temp gauges with the new electric ones from smith's?
They look exactly the same but have electric senders. No more failures.
Nisonger has em.

Regarding gauges.
Seen this problem before.
Nothing wrong with Superformance gauges.
Installer has to tie down ( plastic zip ties) the sensor wire aproxanatly 6 inches away from the screw in sensor.
If not tied down the vibration eventually will create a crack on the tube containing gas at sensor end thus allowing gas to escape and then no more gauge reading.

Licences installer should know this.
