I'm looking at the salvage title car this weekend. Photo above is after all repairs have been done. It has been licensed and on the road for the past two years after being repaired. Trouble is both of the other cars are very good as well so I'll be making my decision after viewing this one. Thanks for all your input, it has been helpful.

Good luck with the decision making process and let us know what you decide. It is beneficial that you have three options. Comparing three or more things helps you look at each one more logically and helps avoid the lesser of two evils situation.

What 1795 said. If you aren't completely sure and there is a knowledgeable Cobra person near you that would go with you to look at the car, by all means take him. Drive the car also and look underneath. Best of luck and I hope that everything works out well for you.

Ron :)

What Ron said. If it was totaled, my major concern would be the chassis and how they repaired it. Check all the welds on the frame and look for new or sloppy ones. Some shops aren't so good at welding stuff back together and just hurry to get it out of the shop. Also, if you can check square on the frame with a tape or something else or have a frame shop check, that would be good.

If he purchased from a salvage auction (copart, iaa, and more) he would have photos provide by the auction. He would need these photos for a salvage inspection. All salvage auctions provide photos. Do you have the vin. With the year and vin I can check copart and IAA. sales

Why is this car showing up on AutoTrader UAE as being for sale in Dubai? See 1965 cobra 427 3,600 Mil 141930 - AUTO TRADER UAE

Noticed the full rear bumper on the Dubai ad and quick jacks on the front of the picture AZLimey posted.

Edit: Looked at the Dubai pictures again and it shows quick jacks on the front. I looked at the main photo when I clicked on the link.

I tried making out the license plate, in case anyone recognizes it. My best guess is "MD3 X2R".

All questions will be answered Sunday 1-10-16 as Simon aka AZLimey has headed to St. Louis to check out the car.
The car looks good in the picture for sure.
I found it listed on Craig's List and funny thing is it shows a "Clean" title????

SP02200 should be yellow w/white stripes, but I guess it's been repainted since the repairs were done.

I think it's 2200ish, not sure on the exact #.

As long as the frame is fine the car is fine...

The Craigslist ad says it is 2200, but maybe it really isn't. Hopefully the OP will come back and let us know.

For sale is my Superformance MKIII Cobra. It is a 2006 chassis #2200.
It is powered by a 427 cubic inch small block Ford engine with a Tremec tko600 5 speed transmission. It has upgraded 18 inch pin-drive knock off wheels and BF Goodrich G-Force tires. This car has a unique 2014 Shelby two tone color combination not offered from Superformance. It has 3,600 miles on it. A true race car for the street!! Asking $50,000.00 Ono

I'm sure he will.

AZLimey 01-10-2016 01:55 PM

I have decided to pass on the St Louis car #2200 as I just can't come to grips with the salvage title. In the hi rez photos I received, the car is simply stunning, but it will always have the salvage title and seeing as this is the biggest car purchase I've made I think a clean title will be the best way to go.

That is rather strange.

twobjshelbys 01-10-2016 02:04 PM

I think you made the right decision for the right reason. Good luck with your ongoing search.

Bernica 01-10-2016 02:07 PM

I agree. If I'm shelling out big $$, I wouldn't want that little "gremlin" in my head all the time....always wondering.%/

1795 01-10-2016 02:30 PM

I agree with the others above. If you have reservations, it is best to not move forward with the purchase. Especially when the title is in question; while we might think that we will never sell a vehicle, you never know. Hate to see you make a big purchase and then have difficulty re-selling the car at a later date. There are plenty of other options out there.
