Anybody install the new LED factory looking tail lights?

Looking for assistance from any SPF owners who have installed the 3 wire LED tail lights in their car. The tail lights can be purchased from Amazon or ebay and are super bright and look like the SPF OEM. The issue I am having is that the harness coming off the car is a 4 wire and has the turn signal and brake light on different wires. The new tail light says that turn signal and brake light are on the same wire. So I spliced the two wires together and the wired it all up. I ended up with working brake lights and tail lights. When I turn on the turn signal it turns both the left and right turn signal on. I think it is back feeding power to the other turn signal. Any wiring advise would be appreciated. I really would like to make them work because they are a much safer alternative to the original lights and they look the same when not on.

Hey Jake,

I believe you'll need two diodes in line to the bulb to control the current flow to the bulb. The diodes prevent the current flowing "backwards" to the other side.
The ones I've always used, and others mentioned as well on FFCARS, were Radio Shack 276-1661 50V / 6A Rectifier Diodes. Since there isn't a Radio Shack on every corner any more, need to find them elsewhere. But shouldn't be hard to find. Note also they are banded and must be installed in the proper direction. If the light is being supplied with 12V and the other side of the light is grounded, the diode band goes toward the light on the 12V side or away from the light on the grounded side.

Replaced just the bulbs with these bright boys

I used these in the original fixtures. They are quite bright.

A little on the pricey side but easy replacement and they let others know what I am doing. I left the original bulbs in the front and thus did not need to change the flasher unit. Red colored "bulbs".
