Funny you say that, I was also told the same thing from others. I'm wondering what strength glue to use so that the Hairpiece stays on, did't have that problem when I was 18. (just kidding) but it's thin up top. (SPF 50 sunscreen)

Pick up day is soon, and of course it's going to rain... Oh well it's not going to shrink...

I'll post some photos when I get home, sorry to say (I'm old) didn't make it to Monterey as planned, got a late start and got to experience Los Angles traffic at its best. 4+hrs crossing. (the car dealt with it better then me) I'll update tonight when I get to Monterey.
It is bring back memories of my youth. Mark. |
well it was an Adventure (good), the car ran well, we did shake out a few simple bugs, but this car drive way better then I remember the org one I drove to collage 40+ years ago.
at the end of the drive home we ended up with just over 800 miles. It will be getting service, and bugs noted taken care of this week, then more miles. Oh and yes it did see snow (and did ok). First fuel stop. http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...a/IMG_0802.jpg Friday morning stop for a coat. http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...a/IMG_0803.jpg http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...a/IMG_0804.jpg Then breakfast. Food was so-so. http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...a/IMG_0808.jpg Made to it's garage at Mazda Raceway (Laguna Seca for us old guys) http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/w...utput_588.jpeg I couldn't be happier with how it drove. The end to the real story is it has been delivered to the owner who commission me to spec and shepard it's build. Now I'll be an maintainer of 0012. Mark. |

Looks nice. Great to see the pictures of 0012 out and about.

Thanks Jim, there will be more to the life of 0012.
Question for you, or any one that tracks there car equipped with Willwood brakes; What pads, and how did you deal with what seems to be long peddle travel? I will be looking into the peddle box to see what adjustment there is, and the bias bar. Same also goes for the clutch. Mark. |
Mark,
Have not tracked with Wilwoods, ask Ross (Riverside Racer) as he mentioned to me about specific pads for Wilwoods for track or racing. I cannot recall what they were, as I did not pay much attention as I am using Girlings. You do want the balance bar to be focused more towards the fronts, which is the way that it is probably set. For track use the Wilwood BP20 is the pad. You may want to look at Hawk pads as well.
The factory brake fluid is DOT3/4 so Wilwood 570 or another high temp DOT 4 is a good addition. |
Wilwood
Mark, glad to hear all good.
As far as more aggressive pads is concerned, I spent time with Wilwood and what I put in the manual has since been changed, due to the fact those rear pads no longer made. What I bought (their suggestion) is their # 150-9184k (D340K) for the rear # 150-8850k (71112-10) for fronts Blas, has since changed the manual. When you bleed, getting all the air out can be a PITA.... as the air bleed nipple is at the bottom of the caliper! 0ne friend took his calipers off, put an insert in (slightly thicker than the rotor)and then bled them upside down) I normally reverse bleed, starting at the furthest point from pedal and ending at front left. Also breaking in the pads is of the utmost importance, but that is covered in the manual. Enjoy. Ross |
Thank you all for the info, much appreciated.
I did the oil change (first one) and will be getting to the brakes this weekend. Wail under the car I did notice that the bleeds were at the bottom. Good idea about removing, placing a block in, turning upside down. What were they thinking. We may be receiving a letter for the HOA (we are the only year rounders in the neighborhood) for making a little to much noise, maybe going a bit over the limit. I have to make a run to Harbor Freight for a lead hammer, bottle jack, and small tool bag. Mark. |
No lead hammers at Harbor, just deadblows and they are not what you want.
These are the one: https://www.facebook.com/TimeMachine...32624220135146 |
Remember two bleeders per caliper...inner and outer and they are the small black ones . Dont loosen brass part ...use another wrench to prevent that loosening the first time.

0012 now has 1300 miles logged. Things that we have discovered, and are working on.
SPF wiring? Seems that almost everything is going through one buss line, and with the addition of the fuel injection, ECM, fuel pump for the system has put a load on that one buss, and when the cooling fan comes on at idle it adds enough draw thru that buss that the motor at times will die. (not a good thing). This only gets amplified when using the headlights. Granted that with the injection system, the wiring has been hacked (computer term). My plan is to add an additional relays/fuses with direct independent wiring for the Fan, Fuel pump, and ECM, taking the loads directly off the battery using it as a buffer. Other then that, the miles just keep adding up. Does this seem like a good plan? Mark |
