Kaase Boss Nine Cylinder Heads

Can you fit a 385 series engine in our cars with boss nine heads? Based on Kaase’s website it list 29” as the width using the 10.320 block height. I had spent most of my time researching the P51 heads but holy Batman those boss nine heads are serious.

I've seen a few replicas with Boss 9 engines in them.

If you're looking for an eye-catcher, that's probably a good way to go.

If you're looking for sheer horsepower, there are BBF heads that go WAY beyond the performance of those heads.

These are Profiler heads and flow almost 560 cfm.

Is that a vacuum gauge on the valve cover and is it for telling you when the rings are seated?

blykins 04-19-2018 04:31 AM

It is a vacuum gauge, but it's for showing how much vacuum the dry sump pump is pulling on the crankcase.

That is a 556 cubic inch BBF pulling truck engine. 15:1 compression, 8000-8500 rpm, sheet metal intake, almost an inch lift on the camshaft, full dry sump oiling, with (2) 1450cfm Dominator carburetors.

Brent,

That is a monster engine. With 15:1 compression what does it run on? The power and torque figures must be very impressive.

118 octane.

Dyno'ing the first week of May, but it should make 1200 hp, naturally aspirated.

That is damn impressive! I would sell my first born for 425 cfm, too bad nobody makes a set of decent cylinder heads and manifold for an FE (that will fit under a Cobra hood).

Yes, since I have to disconnect the secondaries of the throttle body to keep from blowing the tires off. I am sure the car would be faster with a built 302 but then there would be nothing to talk about. The FE has a good basic bottom end, it is just the heads that need work. It has been a challenge trying to get the most out of it and keep reliability. More of a science project than a race engine build. My dream: Kirkham billet cylinder heads based on LS architecture with a cross ram style fabricated intake. Injectors would be mounted F1 style so that fuel evaporative cooling of charge would be possible.

Do Kirkham make billet Cylinder heads?
I''ve been out of the loop since they stopped posting here and moved more to FaceSpace or MyBook or whatever that sh!t be called.

Unfortunately they do not but they could do a masterful job if they decided to build them. I have been asking for them for several years with no success.

Brent that is an awesome build congrats! Can’t thank you enough for the cam selection and assistance getting my 427w back on the street. I’m surprised I’m already wanting more power but I guess I’m a gear head at heart. When I can talk Perry into doing a big block swap I hope your ready to build a motor!

I’m not very educated on the BBF head options.....most builds I’ve come across seem to use ported SCJ’s, AFR, trickflow, P51’s...... then came across your 529ci build using the boss nine heads.
