Browning lettering (Tredware) to Goodyear Billard tyres
Hi Guys,
My Goodyear Billards are coming to the end of there life, over the last few year i have been continually removing browning staining on the Tredware Letters i fitted to the tyres when new. Has anyone got experience if i was to switch over to an Avon Tyre ? is this still a issue? Or being a newer Generation of Tyre will this issue still arise ? Many thanks for your input. |
To extend the looks of your Goodyears or their replacements I recommend this Adam's product. It safely removes the release agents, road dirt and grime from your tires. It leaves the tires looking new even before you apply any tire shine products. My Bill boards looked decent, but they looked great afterward, even the OEM lettering was white again.

We have done many sets of Goodyear transformations to several different brands of tires, mostly AVONs. I have not had the issue of "bleed thru" or the browning effect to the sets of tires that we have done.

I'm surprised, John (especially with the Avons).
While all my Avons have not had any lettering, I find them to be the oiliest, grimiest tire I've ever touched. I would think lettering would brown in no time. |
I have bleedthrough on treadwear letters with Avons. I like that look though

I too have the same browning on treadware lettering on my Avons.

Carb cleaner on a rag does a nice job of cleaning non-painted white lettering on tires... Oxy clean too I am told, but be careful with rims... Oxy has phosphates or something that can spot them.

We have not had the issue of the letters turning brown. On my personal Cobra I don't clean the wheels and tires.
When you guys are applying the letters are you shaving the tires first? We start by shaving the tires, which removes all the writing on the tires, then we clean all the tires with wax and grease remover and finally we apply the lettering. |
