Fresh Air Vent

When I pull the vent knob it only comes out less than one half inch. What is the typical movement? In addition, there is no air blowing under the dash and this goes for both sides of the dash at highway speed. The fan speed switch will cause air to blow under the dash or thru the defroster vents. Do I need to use the fan to move air - I think the vents on the front of the car should scoop in enough air at speed.

Dave, the fresh air knob on my SPF only pulls out about 1/2" (maybe 3/4"), and air comes in thru the opening on the outside/underside of the footbox (need to be around 40MPH or higher) - not from the heater blower vent. Maybe the hose has an obstruction, or maybe the valve/flap is not opening fully. Mine slides open/close pretty easily/smoothly.

Hope this helps,
Randy...

The mesh on the front of the older cars is quite restrictive. I replaced my screens and it made a huge difference. Check out the operation of the baffle, condition of the hoses in the front wheel wells.
I can manufacture the front screens if interested. Photos in my gallery.
