Seat belts for Superformance Cobra?????

Hello folks...I just got a Cobra for Christmas and I believe it has incorrect seat belts. The shoulder belts are snapped to screw eyes on the floor behind the seat. Blas tells me {as well as a tech bulletin} that they are supposed to attach thru the rear firewall and anchor on a bar behind the firewall. The ones I have cannot be correct as they wont even stay on my shoulders.
My question is what seat belts do I need and where is the best place to get them????? Thanks in advance for any info!!!!!

If I read this correctly, this are FOR SHOW ONLY!!! Using snap screws, as in unsnapping them??? NEVER use them as seat belts (shoulder harness) till you get the correct set-up. Superformance owners should chime in here, if not, we have a couple Superformance's around my area. I've even heard some never has them installed (Shoulder Harness's) Con grants on your 'New Cobra'! We're here for you. Cheers TommyRot.

Feel free to call me. If you use the standard shoulder belt setup for an SPF you need to get a “Y” type harness that attached it to the frame using the bracket I sent you a photo of. Your other option is adding the crossbar on the hoop and attaching the belts individually to the eyelets on the crossbar I sent you a photo of that from my car. I have also seen individual belts looped over the crossbar. But I’m not sure that last option is as safe. I sent the service bulletin for the proper install too. Either way, the connection point must be at the correct height relative to your shoulders to prevent spine compression in the event of a shunt. See my photo gallery for photos.
Thanks again for your Wiring Diagram purchase too….

I am not sure I know exactly what a "snap screw" is sir....this car has heavy screw eyes in the floor and the belts have a big heavy snap that locks in place once they are on. Don't worry, I am not using these. The shoulder straps could be deleted and what's left could be safely used as a waist belt only, but I want a full harness set up. The question is which one and where is the best place to get it???? Thanks for the info!!!!

Blas, thanks and I understand and agree with everything you are saying sir!!! My question is what brand and where is the best place to get them???

If your are going to only replace the shoulder harness, you might want to get the same manufacturer as your existing lap belt. If replacing everything, Simpson or Deist are nice. Lots of others available.

Next question is which latching system to buy.... traditional clip or Center lock.
With or without a anti-sub strap...

The jury is out on wether the passengers should have a shoulder harness if there is no hoop or bar on that side of the car.

Contact Rick at Time Machines for the shoulder harness brackets if you use the “Y” style harness.

I ordered a new set from Simpson. Lap belts are clip in which I originally had, shoulder belts are V style bolt in on the tube behind the bulk head. I did shorten the lap belts and made a bigger leather pads.

You should have a cotter pin through the hole in the bracket to prevent it from coming apart.

For the Superformance Cobra Mark III the correct Y harness belt set up is made by a company called Deist in California. The part number is 583225 and one set cost about $280. Thanks again fellas for all you replies!!!! It is greatly appreciated

Msinc,
Those are for the "Quick Release" 5 point set up. There are also quick release-compact, 593120 or quick release -STD, 573120. Both are Y, 3" bolt in end. If you have the leather back, duck-bill latching lap belt these will not work. The 3" Y for the duck-bill latching lap belt # is 603120.
If you are 100% sure you have the part # that fits your application then Belay My Last.

Yes sir, the part number I posted is for the complete set up which will swap me over to the quick release. Thanks for the clarification sir!!!! I have to say though that yours is a much more cost effective alternative if you already have the duck bill lap belts...$68.00 vs. $280.00!!!
