Another Battery Question

I going to buy a red top battery, my question is will the 34R fit in the battery box? It's 10.2" long compared to the 9.1" that some use.

Thanks again

David

And how big is your battery box?

That’s my problem, I don’t know because I don’t have my SF roller yet, want to purchase the battery ahead of time so I can hot test my engine.

The length of the Interstate that I installed was tight, and I had to trim the cover to fit.

Optima Red Top 34R
L - 10.06
W - 6.88
H - 7.88

Interstate MTX-24F
L - 10.94
W - 6.81
H - 8.69

Try asking SPF. They can give you exact dimensions and probably also battery options.

Luis gave me the battery # they used which is 9”L but since I want to run a red top 34 it’s 10”
Thus the reason I’m asking

The 34R will fit. You will have to place some foam spacers on opposing sides to keep it from rattling around some but it will work fine for any Superformance (it’s the only battery I’ve used in 15+ years).

I've got an Optima RedTop 8025-160 in my SPF. Fits perfectly. My original 8025-160 was 11 years old when I bought the new one.

If I remember correctly, Superformance uses both a long positive and a long negative battery cable in its battery box. It is designed to reach the positive terminal on a standard post-orientation battery like the Optima RedTop 34 series batteries.

If you choose to use a RedTop 34R battery, you will discover that Optima swaps the positive and negative terminal post positions on the battery. This modified battery will allow you to shorten both the positive and negative cables in the battery box for a cleaner look and presumably easier servicing.

If you choose to go this route, you must either always run "R" style batteries with the posts reversed, or you must replace your now shorter cables with the longer as delivered ground and main power cables to accommodate the more conventional post positioning once again.

So the red positive on the right side isn’t standard?
