Superformance S/C door latch issue

1 Attachment(s)
I just got my new (to me) 427 S/C built in 2000 and have noticed an issue with the door latches. The part that is attached to the car (see pic) has a tendency to spin and keeps the door from latching. I have to set it parallel to the ground and then the door latches properly. Anyone else have this issue? If so, is there a fix?

Regards,
Jerry

If you really take a good look at this part you will see thepart you are talking about is held on by the head of a bolt on the opposite side of the same bracket. Position the male (or toungue) part of the mechanism and after you align it tighten it down with a wrench. It is painfully obvious.

Ive had this issue on my car with the drivers side. It seems it becomes loose and the part that latches to the door falls downwards. Its a pair. I have to tighten it constantly and its a pain to get to. There isn’t a lot of room to get a wrench to the bolt. Ive just been hand tightening it.

Put a little smear of blue or orange Locktite on the threads and it won’t ever loosen again.

Yes, The latch’s tend to loose over time. I’ll assume that when working properly it closed easily. (Door not out of alignment) that can cause it to loosed if latch is mis-aligned.
You mentioned your car is a 2000 model year. There are a few things you should check on an older car. Contact me offline and I can help you out.
