New buyer

Hi all. I am looking at buying my first Cobra (Superformance). As you all know better than I, they are not cheap. If you could buy all over again would you buy new and get what you want or compromise and buy used but save $40-50K?

Thanks,
Bill

How you spend your hard earned money is on you, however, as with any other new car vs used car purchase, on a new car you'll lose more money than on a used car. Yet, neither, including a Cobra replica, can be viewed as an investment, but rather a toy that you want or need to own to scratch a particular itch.

My sound advice is to find a used Cobra that comes as close as possible to what you want. Do not get caught up with slick advertising by a manufacturer, instead, ask yourself what you want out of a Cobra, do you want something that sort of looks like a Cobra, but clearly the manufacturer has taken liberties with, 17+" wheels, and lots of chrome bling, or do you want something closer to the original for the look, feel, and driving experience of it? Will you be street driving, road racing, autocrossing, do you expect a smooth ride (IRS rear) or could care less and just want something to take the wife and kiddies to get ice-cream or to the local car show(s)?

Oh so many ways we can guide you, or spend your money, or both......The ultimate end game will of course strictly be yours, and yours alone.

I bought two used ERAs, made money on both. They both had options I didn't want or were missing options I really wanted. They did help educate me on Cobras.

Then I ordered EXACTLY what I wanted and built it. I may or may not make money on this one, but it perfectly fits my needs and wants.

I suspect you will have a similar experience, so I would buy used the first time.

If you are interested in a well-sorted Superformance I have this car. I have had several SPFs and my 289 is my all-time keeper so this is surplus to my needs and I am motivated! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...69457295627630
