Delivery Times

Just wondering what the difference was between how long your SPF dealer told you it would be to get your car versus how long it actually took? Who did you use, and were you satisfied with their service?

Told 4 months,Waited 4 months. Bought through McMichael Motors in Georgia. Honest and reliable. Car was prepped and set up to perfection. Their engine installer ( Chuck Keene of Georgia Hot Rods) did a fantastic job. The car is perfect!

Although mine was almost 4 years years ago, I purchased 1358 from Olthoff Racing and was told by Bob and Dennis it takes 3 months for delivery from South Africa and 1 month for assembly. They were true to there word and there workmanship was outstanding.

I was told 8-12 weeks. The car was ordered custom on 8/1, the car left South Africa on 9/20, expect delivery within the next week . I ordered the car from a new dealer, 101 Motors in Batavia NY 585-344-4660 Andy Mistler. Andy is customer focused and the experience has been very pleasurable so far. My engine, transmission and accessories were ordered and delivered this week. Classic Concepts on Long Island NY 631-643-4611 will be doing the installation and setup. Nick Losurdo is great!!!..Extremely knowledgable, honest and dependable..He specializes in Superformance Cobras...His work is impeccable.. Visiting his shop on a Saturday is a real experience with dozens of Cobras with their owners

We've had what I hope is an unusual situation. We wanted to have the narrow pinstripes on our car (red with white stripes) and that meant a new build in SA. The car was ordered in April. We were told it was completed on June 29th. and we were looking at an early Aug. delivery. Unfortuantely, apparently the factory orders were slow so the car set until a container full was built and didn't ship until Sept. Living on the West Coast, we get the long-way around shipping, interrupted by bad weather in Asia. Our latest tracking (which SPF can give you) indicates final arrival in Irvine, CA on Oct. 23. Whew! So, that totals up to about 6 mos. No real fault of SPF, we were being very picky and, well, what can you do about the economy or the weather? Still, it has been frustrating. Hopefully, we'll be on the road by Thanksgiving which is ok in SoCAl since that is usually some of the best weather of the year. Of course, at any time we could've walked into Hillbank and bought a car off the floor. I just keep telling myself that patience will be its own reward.

drj,

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate circumstances surrounding your arrival date. There is nothing wrong with a custom order, as you will get exactly what you want. I will probably be doing the same thing very soon. Sure you could be driving one around now, but you wouldn't be 100% happy with it. The wait will be worth it. At least you will have yours before I get mine!

I ordered my SPF in Dec of '05 they shut down the factory in Jan I believe. The car came to Dymanic Motorsports in Ross OH in Feb. The car was assembled and delivered about one month quicker than my original timetable accounted for. I was very pleased with Eric at Performance engineering because I wanted an all aluminum 427W stroker with 48 IDA's and alot of those parts are hard to come by. It was nice because we had a good spring and I got alot of miles in early this year! 3000 mi this summer and counting. The best thing about the SPF is you can really drive it!

Ordered mine end of Jan 06. Showed up around mid-March as I recall. Was already on the boat (supposedly) when I ordered it. I already had the engine and had to wait for a transmission. Did my own installation, and had it on the road by the end of April.

I was told 4 months and it took 3 months, but there was a minor problem with the paint (so minor that must people probably would not notice or care), so they replaced it, without argument and it took another 3 months.

when I purchased SPF1299 from Dynamic in Ross, OH, I was told approx. 4 months and I believe it arrived in 4 months.....give or take a week.

Great dealership to work with and Eric @ Performance Engineering did an outstanding job with the engine build.

I ordered SPC088 on March 5, 2005 and received it on August 30, 2005. It was ordered through Hillbank. Probably not much help for you since coupe build rates are different and they were just starting to work on production of the GT at that time.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I am trying to get a handle on the actual delivery date vs the promised delivery date, especially since the factory closes for six weeks starting in December. I will hopefull be placing my order before the end of the year, so the factory shut down will affect my delivery time. It seems that most of you have received your cars within the promised time frame, give or take a week, which says alot for SPF's reliability.
