Parking Brake Adjustment?

How do you adjust the parking brake on SPF with Wilwoods? Something at the rear wheels, so I'm told. I know it's not that difficult and don't want to screw something up before I just dive in there with a wrench.

Great question!
Mine won't hold the car on even the slightest grade anymore. I wonder if it would be a different procedure for a later series car?

On our cars it's a PITA to adjust the rear parking brake. MUCH trial and error...more art than science. The upgraded parking brakes (at the driveshaft) seem to work more consistent.

I now just keep a grappling hook attached to the roll bar with 40' of case-hardened chain. ;-)

The SPF parking brake upgrade is well worth the time and trouble. ;)

edit: And cost.

I tried adjusting it like they said on the SCOF site and it still didn't work good. So I just don't use it. Also make sure you have lock nuts on the ebrake calipers. I know someone that had one come off. The damage was bad.

I sent my spf to obedience school. When I tell it to sit and stay it wanders away just like my dog.

my parking brake works well, odd for it to do so since that is uncommon on these . however, for safety sake and concerns that sometime it might just let go, and so as to not have a car rolling down the street somewhere : go to a rec trailer/rv or auto supply store and buy some TIRE/WHEEL CHOCKS. about $5 each. I carry two in the car and put it em behind/in front of the tires for those concerned times. some folks have ropes attached to them so they can yank em free from inside their car and toss em on the footwell when departing . tacky ? yeah, so what. safety first . LOL. Bill

I get the picture!%/
I'll buy some wheel chocks and say no more. ;)

Upgrade? For $500 I'll just continue to park on the flat and/or turn the wheels into the curb.
:p :p :p :p :p

Since when did anyone consider a Cobra as a safe vehicle?

Most Of The Time All You Have To Adjust Is The Cable At The Parking Brake Handle. I Can Show You At The November Meet This Weekend

I have the unit which works off a disk on the drive shaft near the differential. Adjustment is with the nuts on the end of the shaft which leads to the parking break. I adjusted mine to have no function leaving maximum gap from parking break pads to drive shaft rotor. I park the car in second gear. The parking break unit looks like it would work as a nice partial drive shaft loop as well as a reinforcement for the differential mounting location.

RedBarchetta 10-31-2006 02:53 PM

Hey, Greg! If you're not going to use your p-brake unit I'll take it off your hands for $xxx. Seriously!
