The day is coming, I need advice. . .
I'm going to test drive my own Superformance around November 11. What do I look for in the test drive?

New or used? Looks new by your link. Not much, just fit and finish, door jambs, etc. Also ask about any squeeks, especially in the rear. The real item for potential to break is the engine. Take a good hard look at it, but again if everything is brand new....not really sure how much you should expect things to be 'out of sort'.

There really is not much you can really check with a quick test drive, other than obvious defects. Find out what is the best method to contact anyone at the Reps business (via phone, fax or e-mail).
Get to know everyone in that company and what they do ... and can do for you if you have a problem. Look over the paint to see if any chips or marks anywhere. Did you have them install the 3 M protector film? If not, why not? Watch out for the pedal spacing ... it is very close. You WILL step on the brake a few times when you are trying to depress the clutch ... therefore, make sure you put on the 4 point harness, rather than just the lap belt. Get an Owners Manual and read it 3 or 4 times when you get home. Be extremely careful when putting the license plate on the car. Make sure you use very short bolts ... you do not want to scratch the paint, do you? Congrats on your wise purchase ... and have fun. I know I do. :D :D :D |
Have your dealer go over/inspect the car with you front front to back. If you will be doing some/all of your own maintenance, have them show you the items that should be checked/adjusted on a regular basis.
Set up another day to come back with the car (1 or 2 weeks after delivery, or as soon as you get at least 500 miles on it) and have them recheck the car (driveshaft bolt torque, header bolts, suspension, ect). Have them show you how to install the top and side curtains, even if you will 'never' use them!!! Thanks everyone! I have been working with Eric from Performance Engineering and Shane from Dynamic for 7+ months, so I'm comfortable with them. It's all brand new and will have a Shelby aluminum FE (527) tamed to 6~630HP and 685ft-lbs, but I will know more after the dyno pull this week. I do plan to use the top and read the manual and do 99% of my own work, I installed a lift and a heater in my garage, so I'm looking forward to it. I know I'll do some things this winter. . .

What type of lift did you install? I want to install one in my garage as well and don't really know where to start...
