Leaking SPF Clutch Reservoir
My SPF clutch reservoir is leaking. I noticed the fluid level was down some, topped it off, couple of days later rechecked and down again. Checking things over, NO leak at the 3/8 hose connection on the bottom, NO leak from the cap on top, the seepage is from where the plastic reservoir joins the plastic base component that bolts to the firewall. Diagrams I have found on this Wilwood 4 oz remote reservoir system is that there is an O ring that seals the top container to the base and a clamp is secured externally around that area. I'm going to replace the reservoir but wondered if anyone recommends any particular sealant or technique of installing to prevent leaks from the 0 ring area? Is the O ring to be lubricated or treated somehow when assembling? This is just the reservoir on the firewall, not any part of the high pressure hydraulics, so it is apparently just a gravity leak from the Wilwood assembly   Thanks for any advice :D :D

Not all of the remote resevours have an "O" ring as you describe. However you may be able to snug the bolt on the clamp and resolve your leak. There is no special lubricant required if you replace the "O" ring. Just wipe a film of brake fluid on the on the "O" ring and inside of the resevour and before installing the clamp and sliding it onto base component. Do not use any sort of sealant, just snug the clamp down real tight. If you have not already done so you will need to find where the fluid is actually going. It will make a big mess.

Had the same problem when 1358 was new, I tightened the clamp around the base to what I thought was tight enough, but it still leaked. I called the Olthoff's and Bob said to tighten until it stops and sure enough what I thought was over tightening stoped the leak at the clamp where the reservoir sits on the base. Tony |
