Radiator and oil cooler screens
Does anyone have stainless steel mesh screen installed in front of their radiator and/or oil cooler? If so do you have pictures? I think Olthoff does this on a lot of their cars and just want to see what it looks like before I go ahead and do it.

just installed a screen for my radiator. velcro to sides of housing.. I must be doing something wrong.. heat from the radiator melts the sticky side of the velcro.. screen slips down and goes crooked. is there another way???

Call Dennis or Mark at Olthoffs - I've been running their screens since my SPF was new. They're very solidly made and have saved my radiator at least once.

Yep..that is who suggested it. Just wanted to see what it looks like before I go ahead and do it.

I would also like to do this, but prefer to match the vent screens on an SPF, any ideas where to get.???

The screen that came with my 747 is simply a window screen material fitted to a frame that velcros to the radiator opening. It's finer than the steel mesh revealed by Tim, thus it catches bugs and other small particles considerably better. However, if you have more gravel on your local roads then Tim's set-up is certainly sturdier. I also use a velcro installed clear lexan panel over the oil cooler. Acts as both a gravel shield and to help the oil warm up faster (though not by much, I must admit).

Tim your screens are more sturdy looking then mine. I probably will make a aluminum bracket for mine.. looking at your pics, are they just screwed into the side pieces of fiberglass. or nut and bolted

Here is a pic of my car with the screens from Olthoff. They are hard to see in the pics but there is a small metal frame that the screen material attaches to. If you look closely you can see the frame. I have both the radiator and oil cooler screen.

I am using a stainless steel screen on my rad and oil cooler. I had it installed by Macro SPF in Toronto, Canada. The head mechanic Paul Cowan did the work. He put it together because a rock put a huge hole in an SPF rad. The screen is has diamond shaped holes, is stiff and expensive. Paul cut the screen to size, unbolted the rad and oil cooler and wrapped the SS screen around the rads and then remounted them. It is much better than the original "window screen" I had before. I am currently living in Buenos Aires, but I will post some pictures when I return. If anyone wants to know the exact material that was used, just PM me and I will contact Paul for the details.
