Wow. Two grand added to every car just to have Shelby's blessing. I may be mistaken, but I think I recall Shelby originally asking for 1000 dollars from each of the replica manufacturers (to go to his charity, of course) when replica's started getting popular years ago.
-Superformance should have taken THAT deal! ;) Personally, I like the OLDER SPF VIN plates like mine. They have the Cobra snake emblem and say "COBRA....Powered by Ford". I also have the old SPF floor mats that came with the Cobra emblem in the center. -I'll probably get a bill in the mail from Shelby asking for 2 grand. %/ |
How much he actually asked for and would have accepted could be debated till the cows come home, but yeah, I heard that rumor of a $1000. I give it little wieght because, as with all things Shelby, it is difficult to nail down who said what when and where, 'really'. :D His 'charity', yeah thats the ticket!
$2000 per car, added to the base price, was much cheaper than facing the possibilty of further litigation. Smart move on SPF's part. |
