Replacing Heater Hose on SPF 2004
Heater hose was rubbing against oil dip stick and put a hole in hose. Having problem removing hose through firewall. Anyone have any experience with changing out the hoses?

Look under the dash behind the glovebox and cut the wire-ties. Pull the hoses down. Pull both hoses loose from the motor, pull the heater control knob, and flush heater core with water. Look under the center of the dash and remove the two clamps per hose. At the firewall, twist the hose out. This will usually pull out the rubber grommet from around the hose. Good Luck

Thanks Mike. Worked just like you said. I didn't want to start pulling on the hoses and ruin something else. Dave.

I changed all of my heater hoses. Taking out the glove box really revealed where the hang up was, and for my car was necessary to get enough access to change hoses. There are a bunch of tie straps in various places depending on what all was done and how your car is wired. The connections to the heater box once all the tie straps are off and out of the way is real easy to get to and release. Going thru the firewall is easy once both ends are free of any attachments - the hoses slipped readily thru the firewall holes. There are connections to the heater control valve that have to be removed and that requires a lot of contortions to get in there, but again, tie straps hold everything in and back, and when released, much easier then to work on.
