SPF vs SPO
My chassis just came in it is SPO 2626. I expected it to be a SPF #. Whats the difference?
|
It's correct. I currently own number SPF 1823 and the SPO1823 number is on the frame. Perhaps one of the Superformance experts online can give you details as to why, but you're okay.

SP "Zero" 2626
|
Thank you.
|
SP 02626 is your car number....SPF is just an abbreviation for Superformance...sort of Su..Per...Formance...that's it
|
My vehicle ID (per the Statement of Origin) is
1965SPo1049 I believe that format has changed on newer versions than mine (May 2001). |

We saw your car yesterday. Ours (SPO2627) came in on the same truck and is parked right next to yours. You should be very happy with it -- it's a beautifull car. Bryon |
I just picked up my MSO today and it says Chassis Number SPO2482 but the Superformance plate under hood says SPF 2482. Didn't even notice until I read this.
|
Oh boy. I wont see it until Tuesday when Matt emails me some shots of it.
Thanks |
when i registered my car 6 years ago with sb100, the dmv put my spo number on my registration, even though i told them i have vin number given to me by the chp. Now 6 years later i go to my AAA to show them my liability insurance which has the chp vin on it so i can get a reneal, they are giving me hard time because the number on my policy has chp and the registration has the spo#
So what number should i have on my registration, which is right |

If your state has assigned a VIN, That's what should be on your registration. It'll probly be a PIA to get it fixed, but you should get it sorted out. Bryon |
crazee,
BDHE's got it right, you want the CHP installed VIN on your title. I actually had the exact same issue as you, but I noticed it when I received my title earlier this year (2007 SB100). I suspect that your SB100 sequence tag also has the wrong VIN number on it, mine did. It's in small print at the bottom, if you see your SPO number on there anywhere you will want to get that fixed too. It'll probably be a pain in the a$$ 6 years after the fact, but it was suprisingly simple for me. I went to the DMV first, they needed to see the car in person. I signed a form statting that I had no knowledge and that it basically wasnt fraud. DMV worker verified the VIN number from the CHP, then did some stuff in the computer and 15 minutes later sent me home with a reprint of my registration that showed the corrected VIN. Now call the BAR scheduling center and tell them you want to get your SPCNS seqeunce number sticker corrected. They were also friendly, the only two things here is that 1 they will rerun the smog tests that you going to fail (duh thats why you got an SB100 number) and 2 the old sticker has to come off. Mine had only been on two or three months and it took the tech 15 or 20 minutes to get it off. After 6 years it may be.....unpleasant. Hope this helps. Daryl |
thanks guys

Did you get to see your car yet? Bryon (SPO2627) |
Yes, just got some pictures yesterday. Good stuff.
What is the due date for yours to be finished? What motor are you going with? |

Rich's Classic Transport will be picking it up between June 8th and 10th for delivery out here in Missouri. Eric and the gang at Performance Engineering are building an engine for us. We were going to go with their basic 460, but Eric is going to do a stroker for us at the same price. What have you decided for your engine? Bryon |
460 from performance.
I will attach some pics, I think I have to make them smaller. Keeps saying the file is too large. |
