# of grease fittings
Want to grease my SPF Cobra. But before I try to wiggle under the car, how many grease joints are there on a SPF (and where are they located)?
|
Grease fittings?, when I built mine there were never even considered. I installed lifetime sealed bearings, teflon bushings or rod ends only.
I cannot imagine crawling under the beast with a grease gun...... |
Sealed units?....Just another step away from originality....:D
I believe there are 8 total: 3 on each front wheel and 2 on the driveshaft. A little squirt if a lubricant on all the rear assemblies would not hurt either. I use a dripless oil on all the suspension joints in back ..... |
Warren, if you up in the air withit, look around. The drive shaft is one that is missed along with rear suspension components.
Looking around and checking over may also allow you to see if there are any other problems. :D :D |
Blas is correct: One on each ball joint, upper and lower and one on each tie rod end, plus the two on the driveshaft. You may also have one on each rear lower control arm pivot bolt (a common modification).
As Trularin said, looking around under there is a good idea. While you're at it, you might as well take a handful of wrenches and check everything to be sure nothing's loose. Not a bad idea to take a rag and wipe off all the dirt and stuff, too, as it directs your attention around the whole bottom of the car to help you find stuff that ain't right. Lowell |
also a good time to mark all your bolts/nuts with small paint stripes on items that could loosen . It is then an easy check in the future , just check the paint markings to see if the bolt heads/ nuts painted stripes are in line with the solid parts next to them . bill

I know this is an old thread, but I am a new owner...Planning on getting under there and greasing what sounds like six(?) zirc fittings, top and bottom front and drive shaft Ujoints...
