Superformance question
Can anybody tell me the chassis # when Superformance switched to the Holden rear axel rather than the Ford 8.8?
I have the Ford 8.8, car 2040
The diff is not a Holden per se, but a BTR HydraTrac that is also used by Holden as well as several other mfrs.
I believe the change was around 2100. I have 2245 and have the BTR, it's held up...so far.
change was made on chassis #2068 and thereafter . this occurred on or about March 22, 2005 . Bill

Dont Want To Sound Dumb But I Have #2056 With Ford 8.8. What's The Difference Between It And The Holden With Btr And Hydra Trak? What Are The Advantages Or Disadvantages Between Them?
I have no knowledge of the Holden diff: for all I know it could be a huge improvement over the 8.8, although one drawback seems to be the availability of aftermarket parts, such as R&P sets, posi units, etc.
One thing I did notice, though, when I looked around under one of the newer cars that was up on a lift, was that SPF has replaced the cup-type inner CV joints with a flat CV joint, similar to the ones we used on my upgraded axles. Since most of the SPF axle failures of which I'm aware have involved the splined shaft on the inner CV joint cup, switching to different (hopefully stronger) components here has been a step in the right direction.
