SPF Door Keys Question

My SPF uses a different key for the glove box. Has anyone found a source for a lockset for the glovebox that uses the same key as the hood/trunk?

I have never checked. I keep the glove box key separate. Put a small key ring on it with velcro on the back, then stick it to the carpet under the seat. Its to hard to take the keys out of the ignition while driving to open the glove box.:3DSMILE:

A good locksmith will be able to make up a new cyclinder using the other key.

I went the other route. I did not like the key ring hitting my knee, so I got one that comes apart easily. Then there is no problem getting the glove box key when the car is running.

I found the "you must use a key" inconvenient.

Chatted with a friend and he fit a glove box key into a knob....like a kitchen drawer knob. It looks, and works, like a knob when left in the lock but can be removed like a key when security is actually needed.

Like many, I lost the keys to my glovebox. When I went to a reputable locksmith to have him pick the lock and make a key, he offered to reset the tumblers so the ignition key would work on it. So now, I use the same key for both...He said he could even do the same for the boot lock.

Ray,
My keys all have a different cylinder (ie the keys will not go in the foreign lock) so I don't think they can be re-keyed without a new cylinder. I'll check with another locksmith over the weekend.

Got a camlock from Ace Hardware for the glovebox and reset the lock keying myself.
