Texas Roaster 98.4F and 40% humidity
It is hot, the SPF made it fine, I almost cooked. It is a roaster today in Houston, sat in traffic for 1 hour with my fans on the coolant never got above 80C, oil 85C.
I cannot wait until November to get a break from this blistering heat, next project radio. No real purpose of the post just bored and making excuses to stay inside. |
You do not need an excuse to stay inside with the AC on. I just sweated my b***s off working outside for a couple of hours and its only 87°F... time for a cool drink and a cool room.
My SPF is the same. I've never seen the water or oil above 90°C. |
I drove 200 miles last weekend in the 98 degree heat, The cobra ran a lot cooler than I did.

for a radio you should look at a DVD player with a headset. $160 to $400. I bought a Bose and love it. You can hear cars and trucks when they get in that blind spot over your left shoulder.

I pointed out that bowling alleys are air conditioned and they sell beer there too.
I love it but it looks like it was even hotter today, this morning was great though, it really felt cool. |
I am usually in Fort Worth this time of the year at the National Cutting Horse Association Summer Spectacular. A couple of years ago I had horses in the sale and ran back and forth from the coliseum to the horse barn, I changed close 4 times in one day, the combination of the high humidity and temperature was terrible. I thought of moving to the Fort Worth area many times until I visited for a month at the end of July and the first week end August. I can tolerate the high heat and low humidity alot better than the Texas alternative. Still like the area but I had to think twice before I elected to move. Cannot fathom driving the Cobra under those conditions. Golfing was ok as no one was on the courses I went to and the cold beer on a constant ice supply seemed to compensate for the temperature/humidity.

I don't miss Texas or Alabama (spent some time in both states in the Army). I will take the dry heat of Arizona anytime:)

104 up here on the surface of the sun....
I won't take the Cobra out because I'm scared the fiberglass will melt! |
Our high yesterday was 65.

"Our high yesterday was 65".
Ouch that hurts is all I can say, I do not know what it is but the last week the heat has gotten horrible, I guess the humidity has come back in full force after a high has moved off. The next two months are excrutiating, you are already worn down from mid to high 90 since mid may and we have until Halloween until it is over. After Halloween it is either gorgeous with 70's and no humididty or 65 and raining every day, what a sheet hole, how I ever ended up in the petrochemical industry (Houston is the world capital of petrochem) I will never know. |
101 in Memphis yesterday...with about 90% relative humidity. It's supposed to be a little cooler today...only 93, but still with the humidity. Damned...it's hot...too hot. You don't just sweat in this humidity...you rust. Even in the early morning hours when I go out to walk the Lab, it feels like a South Florida day outside. My SPF's been parked since LCS ... only came out once for an early Sat breakfast run, and by the time I got back home, my shirt was soaked. The Harley V-Rod's parked, too...rode it to work on National Ride-to-Work day on July 16...and sweat my ass off...hated it!
Damn that Al Gore...! |
