BB #1167 Superformance buy it now <40K, why hadn't it sold?

Hello All,

Last week we saw a small block car (modest motor), sell for approx 39600 with over 10k miles, why hasn't someone snagged this car with a 39,995 buy it now with <4k miles?

BB460 Dyno Sheet 518 Rear Wheel Horsepower, 528 FTlbs Tq. those are some strong, at the wheels numbers if they check out real.

BB460 is no more authentic than a sb427, but it's still a bb. It's not the car for me, but I still am curious why it's not been bought?

Cheers
Mike

Looks like a nice car..........

460s are fro a particular buyer i guess. Possibly just too many unknowns in buyer land.

Obviously it's the Corvette jacket in the passenger seat and the term 'original replica' used in the ad copy. Something's just not right! :D

Just as a point of infomation, I believe you are looking at car #167 not #1167 and it was manufactured in 1996...The car look very well cared for with very few miles..an excellent example. Car also looks to have been delivered by Bob Boudurant from the dash plaque...

Lots of upgrades made on the Superformance cars since 1996. $39k and you have 12 year old electrical wiring and suspension rubber components. The car looks great in the pics and may be worth that money, but when you can get a brand spanking new model for not that much more cost, and you have the bucks. Guys who have the money to spend in today's economy, I think will buy newer builds

Times are tough and people with cash are on the sidelines others are struggling. Many people in this hobby financed their Cobra with equity in their home and for them the bubble has burst. I just sold Contemporary 3152 for $31,750. (July 26, 2008). You couldn't put the parts in a pile in your garage for that price. I've seen several nice cars sell in the 30's that 3 yars ago would have fetched in the mid 50's and more.

I didn't sell it because I needed the money but the sale was indirectly related to the state of the economy (sort of). I saw the bubble coming in my industry and managed to recession-proof my career from one dependent on good times in the engineering industry to one which thrives on bad times. Good for me (sort of). While my new employer supplies me with a company car (4x4) and pays 100% of my fuel costs my income has stagnated and I am working 55-60 hours a week. This in a time when many in my field have seen 20-30% cuts in salary due to reduced work schedules and loss in bonuses.

Letting go of 3152 was difficult but at the end of the day walking by her every morning and not having time to drive her was more difficult. Her new owner is a retired car guy who had an original 427 Cobra and regretted selling it.

I replaced her with a pair of custom Harley Davidson's that truthfuly while very cool have no sentimental value and will be there when I have time.

I think $39,900 is a fair price. You could not build a new SPF for that price in any fashon. The tires are upgraded and not original from the photo. Wiring is the same as is was on car #1040. Brakes are different, dropped footboxes were added. So yes, there have been some upgrades to the SPF since 1996, but then there have been quite a few upgradable items to the original design since 1965 too...If only it was red.......hehehe

It's an older chassis number, and it has been for sale for a long time now.

Even though $39,900 sounds low, look what other new cars and trucks with 3 year 36k mile warranties you could buy. It is still a chunk of money for someone to let go of, no doubt it will sell.
