My cable never leaked where it connects to the transmission, it was where the cable is crimped to the metal piece that connects to the transmission. Its been a week and not a drip. Amazingly my speedometer is a steady as a rock, accurate to withing 5mph depending on your speed. I love how it goes counter clockwise.
On a side note check the tiny allen head screws on your sun visors, they face the windshield, I went over a bump and one side fell off. Pulled into to an autoparts store to get an allen wrench and stumble across a guy who bought a 1969 gt500 and still owns it, I asked how much he wanted and he said he has a blank check sitting on his mantle from a developer that calls him every 6 months wanting to buy it. At that point I felt it was out of my price range, LOL!! Guy says he will never sell it. |

I experienced similar issues with the "leaking" speedo cable and clutch reservoir. After numerous experiments, I finally broke down and purchased a new, and shorter, speedo cable from my local NAPA dealer. The shorter length reduced the "bounce" to a very manageable level and it's been leak-free for a little over a year. As for the clutch reservoir------I tried everything to limit the seepage. No luck. Finally purchased a billet aluminum reservoir from Olthoff Racing ($45), had a local machine shop fabricate and weld a hose fitting to the bottom of the reservoir ($40), and had a friend make an aluminum bracket to utilize the existing firewall mounting holes (no charge). The result-----much better looking, more durable, and, more importantly, no more leak. |
I fixed the plastic POS wilwood reservoir with Seal-ALL. I took the top of the reservoir off the base, cleaned, smeared some Seal All on the base and O-ring, pushed the reservoir back on and tighted. Very clean and pushing the reservoir onto the base ensured I would not get any seal all into the reservoir. Not a drip since. I could have gone billet but that would have been too easy.
