AirCondtion for MKIII
I would greatly appreciate some input on what would be the best aftermarket A/C unit for my Superformance MKIII.
My car has a Roush 427IR and is currently on it's way to me. Pictures are appreciated as well. Furthermore, what's the best sourcefor a hard-top. My car has a single driver's side rollbar. |

120 mph usually works for conditioned air...your hardtop may require a bit more. :)

Hi "In Touch"...I was looking for an A/C kit for a right hand drive SPF and I'm still looking!
I did however speak with a Houston based authorized SPF installation and service business and they used a kit provided by Vintage Air for their LHD SPF installations. Regards.....Paul |

If you are planning to add air conditioning to your MKIII, you will want to be sure to NOT pull the power for that air conditioning system thru the cars main wiring harness.
Bypassing the main harness, AMP meter and such is easy to do. Just be sure to fuse the power supply line properly... |

I installed a Classic Auto Air http://www.classicautoair.com/Custom.asp in my homebuilt and it was a cinch. I used the electric system as shown on the site above. No cables to run- it is servo operated. I have the controls in the glovebox. My car has no top and the a/c is great. Really helps on those hot days at traffic lights and you can still feel it while driving. My wife would NOT enjoy the car without it. (which makes it more enjoyable for me ;>)

Intouch - There is a Cobra builder in Redding, CA, Bill Emerson, who has done creative things with Cobras and I know he has added A/C to at least one snake. You might want to give him a call and find out what brand he used. You might try:

I have a 1949 Cadillac that I had a brand new R134 system put in, and I used a local street rod shop. They were able to fabricate brackets and the system came out very nice. Any kind of shop that does custom cars should be able to help you out.

One out of five MKIIIs we sell gets AC. Vintage Air does not make a system specific for an SPF, but picking the right pieces from their catalog, and a few pulleys from March or Billet Specialties will get you a great system. It takes me about two days to install one. As for the hardtop, there are one or two around here that I could persuade their owners to liquidate.
