Size of stock oil pressure gauge tube The compression fitting for my oil gauge started leaking at the block yesterday. The compression fitting on the block side doesn't look familiar to me, as I'm used to seeing a sleeve over the hose with a nut. I'm running the stock nylon hose that came with the car. Does anyone know if the oil pressure hose and adapter ships stock with the SPF? If so, what is the size of the stock nylon hose? I plan to upgrade the oil pressure gauge hose to a braided line, but at this point I wanted to get the car back together for a drive. |

All of the after market oil pressure gauges that I have used have a 1/8 dia line. I don't know if it is ID or OD but if you go to a good auto parts store (Napa Auto Parts?) and tell them you need an 1/8" oil line you should get what you need. Cut a small piece of the line off to compair it to. I used an electric sending unit ang gauge so I would not have oil running into the interior of the car. Sometimes they leak. Note: If you have enough slack line you can just cut off the end and reinstall it with a new ferrol (SP?) Terry |

smiths gauges have a 1/8 bsp fitting on the back. Nisonger has the kits on the web site. also Speedway parts has a braided line kit http://www.speedwaymotors.com/braide...kits,4147.html. you will have to buy adapters to npt to bsp. I think Pegasus racing has the fittings |

Here's a picture of the fitting that I took out of the block side. The tube slides into the ferrule (marked with the line) which pushes into the adapter (2nd fitting from left). Strange set up, since the ferrule isn't held in place by a cap nut. The ferrule and hose always floated in the adapter piece, but never leaked. A couple of spines on the ferrule are broken, so it's going to need to be replaced. I know that the hose isn't 1/8" because I compared to the hose in a VDO replacement kit and the existing hose is larger. Any ideas about what size the hose is and where I can find a replacement fitting? http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ge_fitting.jpg |

 Mine is stamped 3/16" |

Go to Oreily, or maybe autozone and buy the brass tubing kit. It cost about $12.00 and will have the fittings, replace the nylon line with the brass line. |

Suggest you call Hillbank and inquire. They may have what you want in stock. |

Somewhere in the system, either a fitting with a rather small hole in it, or a long and small diameter piece of tubing will be installed. The purpose is to protect the Bourdon tube in the gauge from the pulsations of the oil pump. Without that protection your gauge will not last any time at all. |

That push in connection you have is prone to failure - I know - been there. Go to napa with your measurements in hand. (the napa guy will try to convince you your line measurement has to be wrong - don't fall for it). Get a npt ferrule setup and be done with it. I spent more in gas than the actual part and accessing the area of replacement, tight quarters, is the hardest part -- Sharkey -- ex spf 734 & 1176 |

I used Dorman fittings 11B and 12B on my stock oil line and it worked great. Lyle |
