Voltage Stabilizer

The fuel gauge stopped working. So after fiddling around, pulled the voltage stabilizer out, connected directly and the gauge starts working. What's the stabilizer for, why do I need it, and where can I get it?

Thanks,

The voltage stabilzer drops the voltage thru the fuel sender down to 10 volts. If you try and run the system at 12 volts, every time you turn on a large power user, like headlights, fans, driving lights etc and the voltage drops, your gas gauge would register incorrectly. Not an expensive item to replace...Call Mike E. at Dynamic.

Steve, I've heard a good test for this is licking your finger and sticking it in there. Can you confirm for us?
Thank you sir.
