HOT feet
Hi guys. I'm new. I have just finished SPF2828 and have been on the road only 2 months. It gets really hot in the drivers footwell, especially on long trips. Is that normal or can you do something about that?

i am sure you have your footbox vent open ......................no? and yes they do get warm. check vents by blowing air through vent and check in footbox. might be an obstruction.

I also lined the foot boxes with space blanket, and wrapped the first 12" of the header pipes , which dropped the temps significantly.

By any chance are your headers getting overly hot too? (glowing?) Check the paint on the body where the header exits the bodywork...I have heard of having the timimg too far advanced an causing excessive heat in the headers. There is a stainless steel heat-shield with an air gap behind it to reflect heat from parts of the header and the footwell...might be worth taking a quick look at ...

I've never really noticed a significant amount of heat in the footwell. On the hottest days, the air vent is ok as long as you don't mind hard air blowing on you. :LOL:
Steve (Panavia) has under car exhaust, so he may be generating a bit more heat under his car. |
1) Make sure the heater fan is OFF
2) Make sure the temp slide button is pushed all the way in against the dashboard 3) Close both heater "doors" under the dashboard 4) Open the fresh air vent. The SPF heater is great, but only in the winter! :LOL: |

Zero issues here also, numerous times while driving in the "winter" 55F I would have to crank the heat up and then I would remember I left the vent open.

how is the car running? i mean rich or lean. if it's alittle on the lean side , pipes are going to be hotter than normal. thus creating a hotter footbox than normal.

I think we're talking about versus like a Corvette or something.
My footwells get pretty hot in the summer. Especially if I'm going slow. And my fresh air vents blow 100 degree air in the summer. Do I need to turn the blower on to force in the cooler air? Does anyone have a way to cool these down? |
Hey, tonkin if you can pull a piece of your carpet back, and see if it is insulated,under neath I would think being that it is a spf, that it would be very well insulated, and that means like dynomat, and another layer as well, if you dont have that then your sol.I would pull the carpet out and go from ther its not on the outer side.

Hi Guys thanks for all the good advice. Have gone through all the suggestions and think I need to adjust the heat sheild and add more insulation under the carpets.
