Modular motor in a SPF?

I understand that the simple answer is "Yes" for SPFs constructed from late 2007 onwards, but I'm sure that there will be others on the forum who could confirm this...

When I purchased my SPF from the Australian SPF agent (Cobra Technology Centre based in Victoria, Australia), the car that they had as a "demo" was a dark green SPF with a 5.4 modular Ford V8. The guys at CTC explained at the time that they had done a lot of development work in conjunction with SPF in South Africa to ensure that the SPF could accept the modular motors. Australia's very strict emission and licensing laws were the driver for CTC to do this development work because utilising the vast array of Ford crate motor options that are available to our US brothers is simply not an option to us Aussies when registering a newly constructed vehicle!

I understand that the minor mods that had top be made were adopted by the factory and are now incorporated in every SPF produced by the South African factory...

Regards.....Paul

When I met with Dennis Peck at Dynamic this last week he mentioned that the factory is now shipping the mod motor based cars and that there were some modifications made.

I believe this option has to be declared at time of order-- I could be wrong.

I bought in 2007 Spf 2689 they said the engine bay and tunnel was widened for the moduglar motors.

when i ordered spf 2726 i originally wanted to install a modular. i was told it will not fit hence i went with the injected 427 roush.

several later series SPF's have had 4.6L mod motors installed, some with blowers .

On later cars, the engine bay was reconfigured including the steering linkage so that the 4.6L would fit. I do not know what chassis number began the new engine bay layout.

I have not heard about any 5.4L installs, I was told this engine was too wide to stuff in the later reconfigured SPFs. Bill

I met a guy with a 4.6l SPF, as I recall it was a tough install in the details (wiring/headers/spacing)...I didn't ask why he did it...'cause the 4.6l is really a pathetic motor when compared to even an LSX Chebby. The 5.4's seems a little better, but the only version I'd do is a 03-04 Cobra motor...and good luck getting the hood to close on the supercharger;)

Yeah, because the 03-04 Cobra motor is a 4.6
