Early style door hinge needed
I'd rather not confess why, but I may be needing a replacement driver's side door hinge for my SPF023. The prototypes used a "double hoop" hinge, and I'd appreciate info if anyone knows how I might be able to get one.

You didn't b..... With the door o..... And you broke the drivers door h.... Yikes... That su...... Perhaps a photo of the hinge you need as it is probably unique, due to you cars #.... and age. Probably an off the shelf item from another car mfr, maybe someone will recognize the piece... Dennis Olthoff would be the man to contact if spares are available... |

The only excuse I can offer for such stupidity is that I got home late from a work trip and only had 3 hours sleep. At my age, the brain cells had obviously not yet activated despite the fact that the body was moving. The only thing that keeps me from self-afflicted bodily harm (other than kicking myself in the a..) is that I know I'm not the only one to have ever suffered from such brain fade. So after 13 years of nothing worse than stone chips, my beloved SPF023 is in the shop. They are concerned about being able to do a good job of straightening the hinge, so I thought I'd start looking for a replacement. BTW, the electrical gremlin turned out to be a bad cell in the battery....I think I remember someone predicting that ;-) Bill |

Good news.....the only part of the hinge damaged beyond repair was the hinge pin. A new one has been fabricated, door refitted, and now dismantled for repainting. Should get SPF023 back by mid-week.....I miss her.
