Easy to register used SPF MKlll in North Carolina?

I'm seriously considering buying a used 2006 build Superformance MKlll from Michigan with a modern Roush engine.

Will I likely have any issues getting registration in North Carolina where I will keep it?

Any tips on how I should register it?

Thx

Mark

I am going to try to register mine New Jersey registered car in North Carolina (I just moved to Wake Forest). I'll keep you posted.

I really don't think previously registered cars should present any problems though.

Did you try contacting the state DMV? Anonymously, if necessary?

Contact Dennis Olthoff and I`m sure he can advise or help you. He also has a few nice used Mk3`s

Not sure what's required to register a used Cobra in NC, but I can tell you that registering a new one is a pain in the arse.

Requirements will probably be somewhat dependent on how it was registered in Michigan.

I agree with mk2gt40--give Dennis Olthoff a call.

Good luck.

I'll give Dennis a call. I drove my first MKIII at Olthoff. Ill see if they have any used inventory.

I remember they had a Sunset Red car there. It is the color I like best of all.

Thx everyone.

I think he has 3 or 4 used cars available.

Additionally, he has beautiful blue with white stripes car for sale that is still on an MSO.

Markham51

I sent you a private message.

Well, I talked to Dennis this am.

Apparently October 1st, NC will allow registration as a 1965 vehicle which will exempt the vehicles form having all of the modern safety equipment like air bags etc. Caution...this was supposed to happen September 1st but computer issues, blah, blah, blah.

He said that "this is huge" which I interpret to mean...existing problem solved.

He also mentioned that cars in 50k price range are selling very poorly right now with economy as it is and most sales of used cars are in the 35k range.

He is sending me pics of a vehicle he can get his hands on with a modern Roush 427 engine which is my preference.

Also, he told me that existing NC registrations (that in past have only allowed a build year registration) will now be able to re-register as a 1965 vehicle. Cost approx 60$

Registering A Superformance

Good morning Gents,
I had a 2004 FFR in NJ, no problem registering after I purchased it from the original owner. He did all the hard work. I sold it and purchased a 2005 Superformance from Florida. I had a valid title from Florida, but when I tried to register the car at the Randolph, NJ DMV the trouble started. They told me that the vehicle needed a 17 digit ID number not the 7 digit number that was on the title. I called the state DMV in Trenton and they requested me to fax them a copy of the title. They actually responded back to me in about 1 hour via cell phone. What a surprise! They said the title was in order and all I needed to do was provide them a tracing of the VIN number on the frame, and I could resgister the car. I drove 1 1/2 hours to the office and it went off without a hitch. Please e-mail me if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Anthony
