Speedo Trip meter DOA

The trip meter adjustment on my SPF will not reset. The adjustment rod will pull down, and spin but the trip milage will not reset at all. Is there a way this can be fixed, or does it require a new Smith's Speedo. If so, how do I get the correct milage on the new speedo, and any calibration needed??

Thanks
Benny

I have a similar issue. My speedo unit trip meter stopped at exactly 10000 and no longer functions. My speedometer does 'work' with a nice bounce to it... :D

The trip meter is a plug in cable. Check it hasn't come out at the back of the speedometer unit. It has a similar squeeze plug to an electrical connector. If they need fixing or replacing Nisonger can do whatever you need including setting correct mileage.

I just plain gave up on my mechanical speedo when I had it in my SPF. My trip odo went haywire after a few years. Got real tired of the bouncing speedo too. Nisonger did not have good news for me after they looked at it and offered an electronic 180 mph reverse speedo for same price as fixing the mechanical speedo. One of the best upgrades I did for the car.

Was it a problem getting it calibrated for the tires and rear end gearing??

Nope. Speedo comes with instructions on calibrating it. Just measure your tire height, input gear ratio, set it and you are 100% accurate.... and no jumpy speedometer needle. Trip odometer resets electronically with the push of a micro button under the speedo case.
