Tachometer performance and battery ground

This is just a HEADS UP for tachometer performance possibly being affected by inadequate grounding of the battery.

The tachometer in my Superformance suddenly, and unexpectedly, began swinging wildly all over the scale with no change in throttle pressure. All other instruments continued to function as expected. I assumed it was time for a tachometer rebuild. In preparation for removing the tach. I started disconnecting the battery leads and noticed the negative terminal was barely attached to the chassis ground. I cleaned the battery terminals and secured the ground wire and started the car. Instantly, the tach. began working as expected with no erratic, or unexpected, movements. I have put over 200 miles on the car since the episode and the tach. continues to function as expected.

Good to know and another thing to keep in mind for the future.
