Clutch throw-out set up

Which set up is the best ????

Stock fork with slave cylinder,
or hyd. throw-out bearing ???

And which part numbers to use !!!!!

I am running a Ford 428 with the Tremec TKO trans.

Having had both, the McLeod hydraulic T/O is the smoothest, and gives the best pedal feel, but I had a leak in mine on two occasions.

The first was at about 300 miles. McLeod said this was probably caused by it sitting on the shelf for nearly a year before installation. The second happened last fall, when an o-ring on one of the banjo fittings started leaking. I heard elsewhere that some people had replaced these fittings with 90 deg AN fittings with good results.

I switched to the fork and external slave, then had to change master cylinders to get the proper throw. My clutch works, but you better have a strong left leg if you go this route.

I could definately shift faster with the hydraulic T/O.

My problems may have been attributed to my using DOT-5 silicone fluid, as McLeod recommends DOT-3. I just don't like what it does to paint.

I'll make you a deal on the hydraulic T/O, and the proper adjuster and sleeve for the TKO, if you decide to go that route. It just needs new o-rings, which are easy to replace.

Mcleod hydraulic TO-bearing will leak, thats why they come with new o-rings right in the box to rebuild it after a couple of oil changes. I like the ford bearing and fork, with a custom bracket (2" angle iron with a couple of holes in it) to mount a hydraulic slave cylinder. If it leaks, at least it's on the outside of the bellhousing. You must adjust the ball stud on the bellhousing to get the geometry right. If you want a complete setup, call House of Cobras and talk to Don, the parts guy, he'll sell you the whole setup.
