Jag Diff rebuilders
Purely out of interest, how do you folks go about getting a Jag diff/rear end rebuilt? Are there many places you can go to for this?
Here in the UK it is no problem to get a "rebuilt" Jag rear end, but in actual fact they don't touch the core. There are very few folks (maybe only 1 or 2) who can actually properly rebuild/shim the innards of the diff. Lots of folks who can do the wishbones/ halfshafts/hub carriers etc. They just replace pinion bearings/seals, output shaft bearings/seals in the diff itself and thats about it. Even I can do output shaft bearings and seals - its no real big deal. To be specific - who in the USA can replace pinions/crownwheels/spiders etc and set them up properly? So - how is it for you guys in the US? Oh - and how many use this diff set up as opposed to a Ford 8.8 or 9"? Just interested to learn more about the US scene. |

I will use...
Randy's Ring and Pinion.
Check them out at www.ring-pinion.com There were half the price of CWI. The guy I talked to on the phone really knew his Jags. Cheers, Bill Cook :D |
There are a ton of people in the states who can do this work. The Jag is basically a Dana center section. I know two guys in a town of 10,000 who can do this work. Not exactly rocket science. The Weavers at Unique go through their Jag units, replacing the spider gears, in most cases. Most heavy duty truck transmission guys know how to dial them in.

Hmm - thanks for that guys, sounds to me as though there are far more people able to fix a jag diff in the 'states than here.
Another reason to emigrate???? |
