Dashboard layout

Hello All,

It is now time for some of that finish work......These are the tough decesions. I am looking for photos of dashboards for layout and covering material.

I am thinking of skinning my dashboard with either aluminum or stainless steel. Nothing with a brilliant finish!! Using a brushed a textured finish to the metal, do I have to worry about sun glare?

Please forward any photos and suggestions that you think would be helpful.

Thanks to all

John

John,

I had an Aluminum dash and hated it. Yes, you will get glare even if it is brushed and not polished. The worst glare :MECOOL: occurs while driving away from the sun late in the day.

Here is a pic of mine in brushed aluminum.

And a current pic as it sits today. Much easier on the eyes IMHO.

I did my A&C dash with 1/8" foam padding and dyed Elk skin. I just happen to have a tanned Elk hide I shot out in Wyoming a few years back.

That metal dashboard will glare at you unless you paint it black. Just skin the dash in black leather, no padding, you'll thank yourself.

John,

I have an aluminum dash, standard with the Everett-Morrison kit, I don't find the reflection to be too bad, more that it just shows every scratch when the sun hits it just right. Being at the cars shows gets a 50/50 response... some people think it makes the car look more like a race car, others think it looks unfinished - like a kit car.

I think that I would like it better if I had more aluminum in the interior; other panels, trim rings, etc.

I personally like the aluminum and I've not had too much a problem with glare (aluminum is brushed).
