conical seals
If you have A&N fittings that are hard to get to seal or are aluminum like a oil cooler.Try conical seals. They are very soft thin cupped washers, that fit exactly over the tapered end of the fitting. They come in different sizes to match the fittings.I came to appreciate them when repairing M1 turbine power packs. There it is stainless to stainless and nineteen year old soldiers tring to show the others how strong they are.I found a source Summit Racing carries Earl's performance products(a division of Holley ).The conical seal are available online or the phone not shown in paper catalog.Sizes are in 16'ths .#3 is 3/16 " tubing,#4 is 1/4"tubing,#6 is for 3/8" tubing, #8 is for 1/2"tubing ( that fits my oli cooler)#10 is 5/8" tubing,#12 is for 3/4" tubing, #16 is 1" tubing. I've used#10 and #12 to stop leaks in oil lines that I coudn't get to stop leaking otherwise. Hope I have helped somone .

I use the aluminum cone seals on all stainless hardlines carrying fuel. As well as on leaky oil cooler fittings. Available where they sell AN fittings, sized the same way -6 -10 etc.

So you want to build one yourself. Why? They are never done .You will always find something to change as you and it evolve together. You'll get ideas that you can't even imagine now.Just find one that is reasonably priced and has the main stuff that you want.
