centerforce clutch/flywheel
Hi, question time once more, I have just acquired a centerforce clutch 12" df 200015, which I am hoping to use in my 429/toploader cobra rep lump, The flywheel I have has the wrong bolt pattern for this, can anyone tell me the relevant centerforce/ram/hays/mcleod, flywheel with the correct bolt pattern( obviously anyone using a combination, part nos would be great) I have spoken to people in the states but been in UK I prefer to hear from those with the parts fitted to vehicles, also what thoughts on other clutches(ram/zoom etc) are they up to the job? on another note my stroker crank 4.140, 2.2 chevy journals has now also arrived, anyone using this in a 429/460, what rods/pistons are you using? mine is for street use, phew!!! got that off my chest, thanks for any feedback. DAVE KEANE:LOL:

Dave don't go with the Ram light weight they took about .150 off the face of the flywheel so you have to use there disk or the flywheel bolts will hit the springs.

I have a 460. It started as an automatic engine from a lincoln.
To change over to manual trans (toploader) was interesting. I was given a new centerforce 12" clutch (free is good). Bell housing origin unknown, maybe 400m. Trans was from 69 fairlane gt. Clutch fork mid 70's pickup truck. The fork pivot I had to fabricate. Oh, the flywheel, I bought from Summit. Hayes part number HAY-12-240. This is for 65-72 ford 352/390/427/428/429/460, With all that, one would think the ford centerforce clutch would fit. Nope. I have access to cnc machining centers. So I digitized the bolt pattern of the clutch, setup the flywheel, drilled and tapped as needed. Then sent the whole rotating assembly (ford truck crank, lincoln rods, trw forged pistons) out to the race shop for static and dynamic balancing. Whew! Oh, had to put a 3mm spacer between the block and bell. Good luck, Dan |
