side pipes mufflers
how can you change your mufflers? I had evertmorris build a pair 3 years ago just before they went out.Anyway someone told me that the right muffler will add 50 to 100 hores to your car???I dont know any one with a dyno to check this. They said try a dyno with the side pipes on then with out them on. My car runs fine right now but sure could use a few more horses...any help out there?? jinx.

Jinx I think a 20-40 horsepower is very possiable. Can you put your hand in the muffler and feel the glass pack? The exhaust has on most cars a glass pack inside. REMEMBER you need a 11/2 of back pressure to help the motor get max performance. There used to be a guy that built cobra exhaust in the Shelby club. It looked prefect to the orginials. Dynomax and flowmasters make the muffler you are looking for. How are your side pipes put together? Flange, slip joint, or clamped? Hope this puts you in the right direction. Rick Lake ps SAVE the other pipes for the street drives, or the COPS will have ticket partys with you.:)

Greetings,
I'm looking for mufflers for an original 289 Cobra. Ideally, they're about 15-16" inches long, they're oval (3-1/2" by 6), and they're straight through 2" tubing surrounded by fiberglass. Does anyone have a source?? Thanks, Alan in L.A. |
