swapping a C6 for a Doug Nash 4+1
I just bought a Doug Nash 5 speed and it was set up for a Chevy.
Does anyone know If I can just buy a Chevy clutch (to match the splines) or do I need to get a ford input shaft for the tranny to use a ford clutch? also does anyone have the part# for the flywheel I will need? Thanks Gary  |
Hi,
Well I would measure the scattershield [you do have one?] from the trans mount to the block mount, including the block off plate + the crank pilot bearing. That should tell you how long the input shaft should be.If it's the same length then get the correct clutch disk and a ford pressure plate to match that new steel flywheel.Plus throw out bearing, clutch fork, slave cylinder, reservoir, pedal, new driveshaft, etc. Good luck, your C-6 will always be quicker off the line. Thanks for the info, seems the only mod I may have to consider is maybe a custom sized pilot bushing. I realize my C-6 would be faster but I dont want to go for a ride, Iwant to DRIVE IT! Ill hold off on getting rid of the C-6 since I may re-install it after I find out it just wont hook-up. I do have a mountain of meat in the back 345-35ZR17 Yokohamas. Theyre my only chance of successfully hooking up!

Typically the Tremac and the Nash trannys have a 5/8 inch longer input which requires a spacer. These transmissions are designed with GM in mind. Sort of shows our place in the grand scheme of things.
