Christmas Cheer help needed

OK DFW crew, I need your help this year. Every year I try to do something special for someone. I help out at functions often, donate to a lot of charities, Toys for Tots, and do other things that matter to people, but this year I have a completely functional washing machine that I want to give to someone. I know I can sell it on Craigs List and other places, but I want to find a local family that a new washer may make the difference in them having a Christmas dinner or not, kids getting presents or not, etc... I have a truck and can even bring it to the person. I really want to find someone that it will really make a difference, not someone who can just save some more money. I know there are a lot of people who fell on hard times this year and I want to add a more personal touch this year.

I am asking as many places as I can, so hopefully someone can have a good holiday season this year when it looked so bleak before.

Gee Joe, that is very nice.

May I suggest, only after all else fails, good will?

:D

Webers

Hi Rick - I was checking out your webers. I have a Unique 289 FIA and am also looking to add webers and the same valve covers. I think you have a terrific look there. However, I'm pretty sure I'll probably go with 44 IDF's.

Any thoughts, tips, advise or regrets with the webers?

Jim

That was the original idea, but all they will do is sell it to someone who comes in. I really want to give it to a needy family. If I can't find someone before Christmas it will be taken to Goodwill/Salvation Army after Christmas. It is not in my way right now so there is not a huge rush to get rid of it. I just want it to make a difference for someone.

Joe,

Why not stop by the laundromat in Lavon and see if you notice someone really in need? I am sure you will find someone who is down on their luck locally that will really be appreciative.

I can't speak to the crowd/organization involved but soundls like folks in need.

Good idea thanks. We don't have a local laundry, but Wylie and Rockwall do.

Cool link thanks. It looks like they already have what they need, but I can search the site for more.

Thanks to all who chimed in with ideas and all who passed on the word. I was able to find a single mother who has been doing her laundry at different peoples houses trying not to wear out her welcome because she could not afford the laundry mat. I am in contact with her sister through a friend and she is helping us surprise her with it (my friend works with her sister). She does not know it is coming yet. My friend got his work involved (who wish to remain anonymous) by forwarding my request to find someone on to his boss. They help out 1 family every year buy buying the children presents and buying a lot of food for a feast. They decided that they would help the family of one of their employees this year and their donation is going to her as well. This turned out better than I had hoped it would.

LOL, the nickname is one I have had since highschool. My last name is Wieck pronounced Wick, so my HS football coach used to call me Wicked. He would yell stuff like "Get Wicked in there", "Wicked go out there and teach those guys a lesson", etc... It had a psychological effect on the other team at times and helped to win a few games. Name just stuck, even people who have never heard it gravitate to that nickname eventually, so I just embrace it.
